A Christmas puzzle from the Statistical Consulting Unit

The staff at the Statistical Consulting Centre wish you all a much-better-than-average holiday season and a significant New Year. You have asked us many interesting statistical questions this year, and we wanted to reverse roles and leave you with something to ponder while relaxing. So here is this year's Chrismas puzzle.

Sleeping Beauty volunteers for the following experiment. She is told all of the following details. On Sunday she is put to sleep. A fair coin is then tossed to decide which experimental procedure is undertaken. If the coin comes up heads, Sleeping Beauty is woken and interviewed on Monday, and then the experiment ends. If the coin comes up tails, she is woken and interviewed on Monday and Tuesday. But when she is put to sleep again on Monday, she is given a dose of an amnesia-inducing drug that ensures she cannot remember her previous awakening. In this case, the experiment ends after she is interviewed on Tuesday. Any time Sleeping Beauty is awakened and interviewed, she is asked, 'What is your credence now for the proposition that the coin landed heads?' Is the answer one half or one third? (If you need a hint or an answer, read more.)
