Firstly congratulations to all our PhD and MPhil students who graduated last month. While their studies may have finished, our students always remain welcome members of the ANU community.

There are more congratulations due, this time to PARSA (Postgraduate and Research Students' Association) who won the International Students' Association of the Year award (also in July). PARSA does a tremendous job representing all the postgraduate community at ANU.

I also want to recognise Meredith Edelman for her prize from the Gender Institute (for Excellence in Gender Research).

A reminder to keep your eye on deadlines for various scholarships. There have been a number of presentations on named scholarships in June and July but if you weren’t able to attend those events please contact Peter.Francis@anu.edu.au.

Finally, please join me in acknowledging and celebrating the recipients of the VC excellence in supervision awards, Dr Rosanne Kennedy from RSHA, and Master of University House & Graduate House, Professor Peter Kanowski.

Inger's picks from the web

The excellent Patter blog quietly turned five last year. Here is one of my favourite posts about how to conclude your thesis.

On the subject of conclusions, Doctoral Writing SIG blog had a good post on the same topic

This month our section wouldn't be complete without a PokemonGo reference.
