Welcome note
January is the time for new resolutions and good intentions. Some of your resolutions may still be works in progress by the time you read this, but I hope all your research plans and strategies are still fresh in your mind. To those of you returning from the holiday break, welcome back: I hope you feel restored and ready to hit the ground running. To those of you that are beginning your research degree this year, welcome to a thriving HDR community. If you are new to Canberra, like me, you may be still wandering around, campus map in hand, and getting settled. I have discovered that the ANU and Canberra are friendly and accessible places, and I am sure you will feel part of the community before too long.
Why not resolve to make the Research Digest essential reading this year? It aims to distil essential information about upcoming training events, opportunities, news and links of interest to you. It also offers regular links to the Thesis Whisperer blog – a marvellous source of provocation, practical advice and collegiality.
I hope to meet many of you during the coming year at research training and other events. If you see me wandering around the campus (probably with a map), do say hello.
