HDR Update

Summer has arrived, but the weather is yet to catch up. I hope you did lots of writing during AcWriMo. For those of you who participated in sessions, well done and keep up the momentum. Now the month has ended you can continue to practice all your good writing habits.

This year we have been rolling out implementation of the ANU PhD Strategy. Through this work we have delivered two immersive university-wide induction programs, developed and begun implementation of the Career Development and Industry Engagement Strategy, delivered an extensive decision-makers’ guide to support HDR Convenors, Delegated Authorities and Associate Deans, and continued our professional development of HDR supervisors. We have reviewed every HDR program in the university and made recommendations for improvements. We have also delivered our new scholarship package that has increased the ANU base rate to $34,000pa and the length to 3.5 years. We hope you are noticing positive change.

Over the summer period I will be taking a break, then we have lots of work to do next year to continue to make changes to better support you and your research. I hope you are also able to take a break with friends and family/power through writing tasks/finalise experiments - whatever you need at the stage you are at. Enjoy the end-of-year festivities (safely).
