HDR Update

I hope you are staying snug and warm on these long winter nights. The winter solstice is behind us now so we will start to see a little bit more sunlight each day.

I hope you have had the opportunity to try out iThenticate. This is a text matching tool that will help you and your supervisor to assure the academic integrity of your work. In early July, theses submitted for examination will need to be checked through iThenticate. It is accessible through your ISIS login page. There is a lot of support available so that you can get the most out of the tool. You can visit the ANU landing page where you will find links to the iThenticate SharePoint site which is where you can find answers to all your questions, training, videos and more.

It’s been great to see that many of you are accessing the Vice Chancellor’s HDR Travel Grant. This is an award that you can access during your candidature to assist you to travel overseas to present your research at a conference or participate in a research visit at another institution. It can take up to eight weeks to process from application to receiving the funds in your account, so apply as early as you can.

iThenticate & You
iThenticate is now available to all ANU HDRs and will be integrated into the examination process. This tool enables the progressive checking of a thesis for potential plagiarism at any stage of writing. The tool also enables the generation of a similarity report that can be shared with supervisors.
