AcWriMo (Academic Writing Month)

Need to get some writing done before the end of the year? November is Academic Writing Month! Join the HDR community online for a festival of writing, set your writing goals and have some company along the way.
You decide how many words you are going to write each day, or how many hours you will devote to writing each day. Aim high, but within reach. At the end of each day enter your output for the day; at the end of each week, tally the results and brag about your total. Sign up and register your output here. Journal Article Writing Boot Camp

Our famous boot camp format is designed to help you write a large number of words in a short time. In between stretches of time to write in the harmonious company of others, Dr Cally Guerin will run short 'tips and tricks' sessions over the three days, including how to write a killer abstract, how to make a 'click bait' title, and how to promote your paper so you get lots of citations. This boot camp will run online via Zoom and is open to all ANU researchers. We will offer places on a first-come, first-served basis, but will prioritise PhD candidates who are close to completion if there are too many applications. The EOI closes on Mon 30 October 2023.

Thesis by compilation: a good choice?

The thesis by compilation is becoming an increasingly common format for doctoral studies across all disciplines. This session considers the ANU policy and context when submitting a series of publications for doctoral examination, and explores both the benefits and challenges this format affords. By the end of this workshop you will understand:

the advantages and disadvantages of writing a thesis by compilation
