Legal, Governance & Risk

The Legal, Governance & Risk Division comprises the University Legal Office (ULO), the University Governance Office (UGO), and the University Risk Office (URO), as the central functions of ANU dedicated to ensuring the University’s compliance with the law, assurance in governance, and active risk management.

University Legal Office (ULO)

ULO is responsible for the provision of all legal services to ANU, directed to ensuring the University meets its strategic objectives.

ULO provides assurance that the way ANU proposes to act is legally defensible, within the scope of the University's powers, and that all legal risks are appropriately identified and managed to the University's benefit.

University Governance Office (UGO)

UGO is responsible for coordinating the governance and assurance functions of ANU, principally through advice and support to the Council, Council Committees, the ANU Foundation Board, the Academic Board and its Committees.

UGO manages the governance frameworks of ANU, which cover legislation, policy and delegations.

University Risk Office (URO)

URO is responsible for implementing the University's enterprise-wide risk management framework as well as managing our internal audit program.

URO satisfies the Council's general duty under the PGPA Act, to establish and maintain an appropriate system of risk oversight and management for the University and an appropriate system of internal control.

All Offices are located in the Baldessin Building, #110. URO is located on the second floor. UGO and ULO are located on the third floor.
