Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation)

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) (ODVCRI) is responsible for the strategic development, leadership and management of research activities at the Australian National University.

The DVCRI is focused on building the University’s research profile, performance and impact, ensuring alignment with the needs of strategic partners, end-users and the broader community.

The Office oversees the development of research strategies, capabilities, policies, research support services and systems to achieve the University's strategic goals in research and innovation.

The ODVCRI is led by Bhavani Balakishnan, Senior Advisor to the DVCRI, who takes overall responsibility for managing the DVCRI’s strategic agenda, representing him in various contexts, and working closely with colleagues on his behalf. She manages the professional staff and functions of the Office.

The Executive Assistant to the DVCRI coordinates the DVCRI’s work and schedules, as well as those of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research), Professor Ann Evans. 

Other ODVCRI staff include the Communications and Marketing Manager and the Executive Officer, who both engage with counterparts across the University to advance strategic research and communication priorities.
