Casual theatre employees rates
Consistent with ANU Enterprise Agreement, the Live Performance Award 2020 applies to staff employed at Llewellyn Hall and other School of Music venues.
Job code GTHT is used for all casual venues staff - to be paid on the earnings codes table, with the conditions set out below.
Live Performance Award (LPA) 2020
The ordinary hours of work for a casual staff member will be a minimum of 3 consecutive hours per day. Ordinary hours may be worked from Monday through to and including Sunday between the hours of 7.00am and 12 midnight.
A casual staff member who is required to work for more than 4 hours will be entitled to a minimum meal break of 30 minutes.
The appropriate rate for casual staff is calculated by dividing the rate per week set out in the award for the relevant classification level by 38 and adding 25 per cent loading on such hourly rates.
Casual employees are not paid per performance. Employees may be required to work on a number of performances during an engagement.
Where casual employees are required to work on the same day on at least 3 short performances (defined in the Award), and there is a break between any two of the short performances of at least 2 hours, they must be paid a minimum call for each such performance of 2 hours.
For all work performed on Sundays and public holidays a staff member must paid at double time with a minimum payment of 4 hours.
A casual staff member who works more than 8 hours per day will be paid overtime at the rate of time and a half for the first two hours and double time thereafter (Note: Casual staff are not eligible to be paid the 25% loading for overtime).
A casual employee who works more than 38 hours (excluding overtime worked and paid on a daily basis) in any one week will be paid for all hours in excess of 38, at the rate of time and a half for the first (4 hours and double time thereafter (Note: Casual staff are not eligible to be paid the 25% loading for overtime).
The following rates of pay are effective from 1 July 2024.
