New graduation tradition for ANU

29 Oct 2019

Who doesn’t love graduation week at ANU?! Seeing all the students wondering around campus in their robes, posing for photos with their proud families, it’s such a great time of the year!

Whether or not it may seem like it, every one of us has played an important role in a students’ journey at ANU, which is why we are excited to announce a new graduation tradition at ANU this year – Grand Graduations.

Grand Graduations is an opportunity for all graduating students, their families, and the ANU Community to come together to celebrate this exciting milestone.

This year’s event will be held at 10.30am on Tuesday 10 December and will include a student parade, The Honorary Doctorate ceremony for The Right Honourable Helen Clark ONZ SSI PC, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, an oration by Karlie Noon, graduating Masters student and 2019 ACT Young Australian of the Year Nominee, and a performance by the ANU Choral Society.

Anyone who might have their own graduation robes hanging in the closet are encouraged to wear them on the day.

Graduating students will then proceed with their own college-based Conferring of Awards Ceremonies throughout the week.

Official invitations will be sent from the Vice-Chancellor this week but if you are keen to find out more or register visit https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/2019-grand-graduations-event-anu-community-tickets-78114122443.
