Leadership in Practice Program
Leadership in Practice is the University’s flagship leadership program, focused on building the leadership capabilities of any of our leaders who are managing one or more people. In addition to leadership skill development, a diverse cross section of academic and professional people managers from across ANU are allocated to each cohort, thereby assisting participants in developing networks across the university.
Incorporating evidence-based research from such areas as positive organisational scholarship, neuroleadership and neuroscience, the workshops will equip people managers with concepts, tools and models to understand their strengths as leaders, and to assist in:
- handling uncomfortable conversations;
- delivering feedback with dignity, respect and compassion;
- acknowledging and recognising staff;
- understanding, managing and mitigating people’s reactions to change;
- coaching; delegating effectively and setting compelling goals.
The program consists of 2 consecutive full day workshops + 1 full day follow-up workshop, which are delivered face-to-face with groups of up to 20 participants. People managers are encouraged to discuss the program with their manager or human resource staff, or to make their own enquiries at hrd.development@anu.edu.au
