SCU3 Experimental Design and Analysis

This is an online course offered by the SCU. In this course, we cover the following content:

Terminology and the principles of experimental design

• Basic terminology 
• Practical issues in design 
• Principles of experimental design 

Four commonly used designs included in this course:

•  Completely randomised design with only one treatment factor: treatment factor is randomly allocated to all experimental units.
  • How to design the experiment
  • How to analyse the data

• Completely randomised design with more than one treatment factor (factorial design)
  • How to design the experiment 
  • How to analyse the data

• Randomised complete block design: the experimental units can be grouped into blocks of similar units.
  • Introduction to "blocks" 
  • Randomised complete block design with one treatment factor
  • Randomised complete block design with more than one treatment factor

• Split-plot design: one treatment factor is applied to large plots and another treatment factor is applied to subplots within the large plots.

  • Split-plot design with two levels
  • Split-plot design with more than two levels
