Mental health resources
Mental illness is a health issue that can significantly affect how a person feels, thinks, behaves and interacts with other people. Providing a healthy and safe workplace benefits all workers, including those who identify as having a mental illness.
Note: includes staff currently experiencing symptoms of their mental illness, those managing their mental illness and not displaying symptoms, and/ or staff at risk of suffering a mental illness (which could be anyone)
The Work Environment Branch integrates strategies to address mental health into the broader Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management practices by working to identifying risk factors that could cause/ aggravate a mental illness.
The following information will help you to:
- identify possible workplace practices, actions or incidents which may contribute to aggravating existing or causing mental illnesses of your staff
- provide suitable support to your staff who may have a mental health issue and
- take actions to help minimise the risks.
