Using ANU name servers from off-campus

The University's nameservers block recursive queries from hosts that do not have an ANU IP number or an IP number starting with 203., 202. or 192. Queries from machines on other networks will be answered, if the nameserver has the answer in its cache already.

Please do not configure home machines to use ANU nameservers. Configure laptops to use ANU nameservers, when on campus and the ISPs nameservers when at home.

The reason for this is that our nameservers have been heavily used from machines all over the world and this activity appears to be virus related.

Recursive are queries allowed from:

  • 150.203.0.0/16
  • 130.56.0.0/16
  • 203.0.0.0/8
  • 202.0.0.0/8
  • 192.0.0.0/8
  • 10.0.0.0/8
