Jawun Secondment Program
Due to the current circumstances ANU is experiencing, our Jawun partnership and the associated secondment opportunities have been suspended temporarily. The University will review pursuing our partnership in the second half of 2025. There is work underway to look at alternate ways of enhancing Indigenous cultural learning and immersive experiences for ANU staff, and we will keep you updated on this.

The University will review pursuing our partnership in the second half of 2025. There is work underway to look at alternate ways of enhancing Indigenous cultural learning and immersive experiences for ANU staff, and we will keep you updated on this The Jawun Secondment Program is an opportunity for staff to go on secondment to Indigenous organisations across the Lower River Murray, Far West Coast and East Kimberley regions. The Program is open to high-performing, high-potential academic and professional staff members at ANUO8 (or equivalent) and above, who are flexible, resilient and are prepared to commit a full six-week period in-place. Jawun enables University Staff to share their expertise, broaden their leadership skills and networks and enrich their professional development. Jawun is a short term six week secondment opportunity.
The University offers secondment opportunities four times a year:
- Round 1 - Between February and April
- Round 2 - Between May and July
- Round 3 - Between August and October
- Round 4 - Between October and December
ANU academic and professional staff are invited to self-nominate and are required to have written support from their General Manager, Divisional or School Director, or equivalent, to participate in the program. Upon return, participants are required to champion Jawun within the ANU community and actively participate in the Jawun Alumni Network.
All nominees are to review the supporting documentation and submit their completed Jawun Application Form and CV to indigenous.employment@anu.edu.au. Endorsement by the relevant GM/Director is required before selected individuals are invited to interview.
