Relevant exemptions
It is essential when responding to FOI requests to provide all information you have even if you object to its release. The FOI officers are the only people within ANU delegated to make decisions on the release of information under FOI, therefore they need to view the information in order to make that determination.
If you object to the release of information you can request that the material be exempt from release. The FOI Act has a number of exemptions that may be claimed in order to protect confidential, personal and commercial information as well as the general public interest.
The list of relevant exemptions only covers those regularly claimed by ANU; there are other exemptions listed in the Act. If you do not believe your objection falls within any of the exemptions described, contact the FOI officers to discuss alternative exemptions that may apply.
